Steven Bishop was born in the West Midlands in 1956 and joined the army in 1974 at the age of 17. He saw service in Northern Ireland during the 1970’s Germany and the United States. After leaving the Army, he worked in South America for a major financial institution and for the UK TV and the music industry, with extensive experience of working in volatile environments in Europe.
He left the security industry in 2002 for a slower pace of life. Training as a behavioural therapist in 2003. Since qualifying, he has worked with former service personnel who experience difficulties adjusting from military life, and combat associated trauma into civilian life. The Next Eight Days is his debut novel satisfying a long held desire to write.
He calls upon his own military experience, and working life, blending it with some of the characters and personalities he encountered during the five years spent living on his own narrowboat ‘Sequoia’ on London’s Grand Union Canal.
He now lives in Bristol.
